OTHER RECIPES AND OPTIONS:

OPTIONS FOR THE BASIC OR SPECIAL VANILLA.

It's fun to try new flavors of ice cream.  But the favorites will always be Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry.
The basic recipes for vanilla and chocolate on page 1 (p.1) are delicious by themselves.  But try some easy variations once in a while.  The amounts are not definite; if you want more, use more.  Add these flavorings during the final 5 minute of freezing a basic recipe.

STRAWBERRY:
Partially thaw 1/2 package of frozen strawberries. Puree in blender; keep chilled.

LIKE NUTS? Add  1/2 cup finely chopped almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts, to any recipe.

FRUIT FLAVORS:  Add about 3/4 cup of chilled, chopped or pureed fruit that has been covered with sugar, and sitting for at least an hour.  Use fresh, ripe fruit, or canned. You can use fruit preserves from a jar.

CHOCOLATE OPTIONS: Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of Kaluha, strong coffee, finely ground coffee beans, molasses, fruit syrup (cherry or raspberry), etc.

GUINNESS STOUT ICE CREAM: Something different, but quite good.
Use basic vanilla recipe, but omit vanilla. Use only 3/4 cup half-half per qt.
Before freezing, mix in 7/8 cup cream (instead of full cup) and 3/4 cup stout.
